Château Lafite-Rothschild
1er cru classé
– Pauillac
The vines which enter the high-class wine Château
Lafite Rothschild are 40 years old on an average.
The oldest piece, known as La Gravière, was
planted in 1886.
Château Lafite saw many adventures: difficult
successions, the Vanlerberghe mystery, phylloxera
and occupation of the Medoc as far back as June
40.
At the end of 1945, under the crook of Baron Elie
de Rothschild, remarkable years (45–47–49)
will give plenty of spunk to the reconstruction.
With Eric de Rothschild will follow the beautiful
years of the Eighties.
Lafite Rothschild: the search for the excellence
which crossed the time.
