BURGUNDY
The red burgundies come from the Côte d’
Or which is divided into 2 distinct zones: Côte-
de- Nuits in North and Côte-de-Beaune in
the South. They are also present in Côte
Chalonnaise, Mâconnais and Beaujolais. White
burgundies are a little everywhere, but principally
in Côte-de-Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise,
Mâconnais and Chablis.
Three dominant type of vines:
- Pinot Noir for the red: capricious but giving
the sumptuous reds of the Côte d’
Or
- Gamay at the origin of pretty beaujolais wines
- Chardonnay for the high-class whites of Chablis
and Côte-de-Beaune.
